WINTER LADDER RESULTS Week 9 08-02-2020+

Super Stern fly’s to No.1

John Stern defeated Sam Wells to take over as No.1 , it did require a Super Performance to halt Sam’s winning streak. Jonathon was an impressive -8 under his handicap to win, with a 60ft birdie putt on the 18th.

Don Bennett was the unfortunate recipient of a snake game, starting the day at 11, he lost his match to Simon Blakeney 6 & 4 to slip to 33rd , although he remains in 3rd place in the league.

Andy Mitchell won his match against Stuart Catton to move into 2nd place with James Gietzen up to 3rd.

The event has been hit by the weather and conditions are extremely wet underfoot, only 9 rounds have been played with another 4 scheduled there is not long before the final on March 7th.

The league is also being led by Jon Stern on 23pts, followed by Andy Mitchell on 22, Don Bennett has 21 with Lawrie Richards & Homi Falak on 20 & 19 respectively.

There were 5 x 2’s today, sharing £150.

WINTER LADDER RESULTS Week 8 25-01-2020+

40 players played today, all greens in play

Sam Wells takes top spot with a great 2 & 1 win over Dean Plant.  Both players had 100% records ahead of their match, so something had to give. It was Sam Wells who produced the fireworks with 4 birdies and two eagles, the best of which was a drive & 7 iron to 4ft on the long 14th hole.

Jon Stern defeated James Gietzen to move into 2nd place with a 2 & 1 win.

 

Former Tour Player, Stuart Catton , is now at no. 4 in the ladder as he challenges for top spot after big win!

The battle for the league is as equally tight as Jon Stern & Don Bennett are locked at the top on 20 points with Andy Mitchel on 19 in 3rd.

There were only two  2’s today, sharing £170.

WINTER LADDER RESULTS Week 7 11-01-2020+

Dean Plant continues at the top of the ladder.

38 players attended on a rare dry day.

Dean Plant defeated Mark Earley on the 18th making an incredible 9 birdies and 1 eagle.

Sam Wells set up a game against Dean Plant for the top spot with a 2 & 1 over Carlo Mendes.

Other notable wins were Stuart Catton (16) defeated Don Bennett (7) to move into top ten. Jason Eede defeated Lawrie Tremlett 3 & 2.

There were seven 2’s today, sharing £175.

WINTER LADDER RESULTS Week 6 04-01-2020+

Just incredible , Super Dean remains at Number 1

In the first ladder of the new decade, Dean Plant defeated Don Bennett on the 18th to remain as the player to beat.

Mark Earley, last year’s league winner moved into 2nd spot winning his match 3 & 1.

Mark O’Hara moved into 11th spot winning his match on the 5th extra hole.

 

Defending Champion, Tom Foreman is currently at 61st place, but a few wins could see him challenging his arch rival at no.1.

Don Bennett’s consolation is to remain 2pts clear in the league from Carlo Mendes & Jon Stern.

There were only three 2’s today, sharing £210.

WINTER LADDER RESULTS Week 5 - 23-11-2019+

The no.1 spot is in safe hands as Dean Plant, former chelsea goalkeeper jumps to the top of the ladder.

In a close game, Dean Plant had 6 birdies and an eagle to beat current leader , Carlo Mendes on the 18th.

Lawrie Tremlett defeated fellow scratch player  & defending Champion  Tom Foreman 3 & 2 and made 2’s on all the Par 3’s, a rare feat and £54 as each 2 paid £13.50.

There were big wins by Jon Stern, Dave Bridger, James Gietzen & Andy Mitchell.

Don Bennett moved up to 2nd spot after beating Mark Earley on the 19th.

GENTS LADDER

Carlo Mendes leads the way after week 4 and no one is going to mess with Carlo!

The former hollywood actor and star of the Goodfellas has defeated arguably two of the best players in the Ladder over the past 3 years.  There were also good wins Justin Scales & Dean Plant who both jumped into the top ten and Simon Clarke thumped Dave Bridger 5 & 4 in the biggest win of the day.

The greens on the east course were excellent , although the course played long follow the heavy rain.

Congratulations to Liz & John Ditchburn for winning the Breakfast League for the 3rd time in 4 years, they are now only 2 wins behind Debbie & Colin Ash who have won the event 5 times.

Their 47 pts scored in round 3 proved key in their win as they eventually won by 4pts from Phillip Boghurst & Jane Saunders.
